Degree Options


Chemistry and Biochemistry majors have the opportunity to pursue either the Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. The requirements for a BA or BS degree have been set forth by the university.

Biochemistry BA/BS

A biochemistry degree prepares students in a wide variety of areas that include pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology, or to pursue advanced degrees in the biochemical sciences.

Chemistry BS/BA Emphases

There are 10 emphases offered to chemistry majors. Click on an emphasis to explore Its course requirements.

Elective Class Options

Some of the emphases have a variety of classes students can choose from. A list for each emphasis can be found below, as well as on a DARS. All students have the option to get approval to take classes not found on DARS, but must get permission from the chemistry advisor first.

Minor in Chemistry

A chemistry minor requires a minimum of 20 semester hours of chemistry courses numbered 1210 or above, including two 3000-level or above courses (6 semester hours) in chemistry. More details about the chemistry minor and how to declare it can be found through the button below.
