The Department of Chemistry requires students to follow these guidelines regarding transfer courses from another institution.
Before submitting a manual transfer evaluation to the Department of Chemistry, please check the U of U’s transfer equivalency database. If your course appears in this database within the time-frame indicated, you do not need to submit a transfer evaluation to the chemistry department.
Requirements
1. Get your out-of-state transfer(s) started
- Please submit one course per evaluation. For example, if you took Genchem I and II, this would be two separate submissions.
- Make sure your syllabi includes a list of lecture topics that were covered and also a list of labs if applicable.
2. Once your request is approved, complete the following:
- If you need to request a permission code, complete the Permission Code Request Form and make sure to include documentation of your approved transfer evaluation.
- Review your degree audit regularly to see if your transfer courses have appeared there.
- Once transfer classes show up on your degree audit, email your academic advisor stating that your courses are now on your degree audit and request that the appropriate degree audit exceptions be entered.
3. Need other STEM course transfers from other departments?
- Course syllabi in mathematics, biology, and/or physics should be sent to the respective departments to be reviewed.
- For general education requirements that aren’t showing up on your degree audit, please submit a petition.
- Once you have received a response from that department, forward the email to your academic advisor and request that a degree audit exception be made.
